jason, lewis, thank you for your thoughts! I bought the zr expansion board, these are my two cents, if anybody else considers buying it: Piano: AWSOME! The first realistic sound I found on a ROMpler. drums: okay, but not the same punch than whats on the mp-7 sound rom. percussion and acoustic bass: better on the mp-7 brass/woodwinds/flute and stuff: I don“t like it. You find better sounds on dancehall equipment like the Yammie PSR. Sax and trumpets are disappointing. Not Emu level. E-Pianos: I quite liked them but I am not experienced with this and cant compare. Pads and Synths: good. Overall: The ZR expansion board may be a good (but not overwhelming) bread and butter sound module, but only and really worth the price when a very realistic piano sound is needed. For expanding the mp-7 I was a little disappointed. Maybe I am expecting (to) much but for 300 bucks you can do so. Anybody who knows something about the new proteus composer board Lewis was mentioning?
