Subject: [xl7] Silly me...

I just picked up my XL-7 yesterday and have been tinkering with it
all day. No probs so far but haven't started a project yet so I'll
save my opinions for later. But one thing that a friend who owns an
XL-1 pointed out was that they do not appear to contain the same
preset banks. There's some overlap but many differences. Granted I
assumed the XL-7 came with the XL-1 preset ROMs so I have only myself
to blame for the confusion. But why are they partially different?
Was there some kind of sound incompatibility or something?

Also I heard a disturbing rumor from not one but two seperate
equipment dealers yesterday. When I went to dealer A to pick up the
unit the guy (who is usually very knowledgable about these things)
told me he had sold out and had no plans to reorder because E-MU was
discontinuing the product. Scratching my head (news to me) I went
down the road to national chain dealer B who had one remaining in
stock. I was told I was lucky because according to their database
they had no plans to reorder. When I asked why he said they usually
only see that when a product is being discontinued. !! What's up
with that??? Is this true?? Please tell me I didn't just sink a
grand into a machine that's going to have no support in a year.

Cheers,

Qwanta
