Of those two, I would say the SU700 is by far the better bet. If you go for an RM1x, you have to be CAREFUL to get the latest operating system, which isn't free and isn't downloadable, or you WILL have problems with some external gear. I didn't buy one, when I could have gotten it for a steal from a friend of mine, because of that limitation. Also, if you get an SU700, you might want to make sure it already has the expensive SCSI upgrade kit, or forget about samples over 1.2 mb, the size of the floppy disk. Could be a real pain live, but I have heard people really like that box, again, I looked at that long and hard before I sprung for the XL7, since I already have a Yamaha A3000 sampler.
