Re: [xl7] Re: how do the sounds....

2004-02-05 by erik_magrini@Baxter.com

did you send me a cd a few weeks ago?

>>>That depends, did you like it? ;) Yeah, that was me. <<<

So I have plenty of smaller toys to get rid of but I want to make sure it
is replaced by something with power
and substance.

>>>Well, to be honest the XX-7's can't compare to the VA's and real
analogs you have. That's not to say they still don't sound good (they
sound great IMO), but it is a decidely ROMpler like sound compared to
those. Just a heads up. <<<

I also want to be able to free flow compose and not have to load a
ass-load of samples first just to get started.

>>>That should be no problem then with the XX-7's, they are very
intuitive, and once you know your way around one, you can write very fast
on it. <<<

I just need more to start with. Im not so concerned with the market its
aimed at, but more for its capability of putting out "big" sound "real"
sound if worked with.

>>>I think you'll be happy then. <<<

from what I read by you I think I can, I plan on going to the local GC on
Friday and sit with it a bit.

>>>Yeah, that's your best bet then, just try and ignore the factory
patterns if you can. They're not at all indicative of what these things
can do. I can shoot you a CD I did of one of my live sets if you want,
it's about 95% XL-7 (with the Protean Drum and Pop ROMS installed) and
about 5% Roland Sp808. Let me know if you're interested. Actually, I'll
probably put it back online now that I think about it, I'll send a link in
a bit.<<<
