I quote here from someone on this group WAY smarter than I am - whose name I lost! sorry! - who turned me onto this:"Actually Dana I have to step in and tell you that you're 100% wrong. I am an ER-1 owner so listen up ;).Set sync to external on the ER-1 and set the midi channel of your choice.Configure the appropriate track on the XX-7 to external only same midi channel.Press the Midi button (last function button in ER-1) and scroll down to filter . Make sure you turn all filtering off so the display blinks like this " - - - " . This disable Program changes etc etc . <-I didn't do this part. Now program a set of percussion sounds (small kit in the ER-1)DO NOT STEP PROGRAM ANYTHING ON THE ER-1 !!!!!!!Set the XX-7 into grid mode and assign the pads on the ER-1 to corresponding Midi note numbers of keys with an octave keyspan. The ER-1 can be programmed in realtime ,step and grid modes via the XX-7 with full velocity control ,all the swing, scale and clock offset options of the sequencer in the XX-7 apply. The ER-1 sequencer will light up the > (play button). However it's tempo will be locked to the XX-7 and all note data will be received from the XX-7 as nothing is stored on the corresponding ER-1 pattern other than tempo sync delay and the sounds themselves. You can set the ER-1 to respond under midi filter to Program Change messages and have a swag of programmed kits without any pattern data stored in the ER-1 for recall and full dynamic sequencing on the XX-7. Lastly - the only limitation you will have is Motion sequencing. The XX-7's do no recognize NRPN's and therefore realtime knob tweeks cannot be recorded into the XX-7's sequencer. However if you hit record and play on the ER-1 empty pattern and tweek the knobs then store. The Motion sequencers will be store in the pattern and the XX-7 can do all the other work for you with all those time signature features you want.Trust ME it DOES WORK !!!!!!!!!"And yeah it does work.D--- In xl7@yahoogroups.com, "Turby Schmidt" wrote:> > Thanx,> i just checked it and program change seems to work, but> the electribe is not changing the patterns directly, it changes after > completing the current pattern, so it seems to be necesary to send the > program change information befor the change occurs [sorry im not a native > speaker], but this way i cant loop this pattern with the program change > information.> So what can i do? create a once played pattern including this program change > information?> Any other suggestions?> Turby> > >From: "dwoodaman" > > >Yep and its been gone over here, basic thing is to set the midi to> >ext for the er1 channel, then insert a program event at the first> >tick in the pattern, make sure the m=0 and l=32 and also make the> >program change number 1 number less than you really want.> >Sorry this is short I am beat you can get better answers by searching> >on program change in the forum.> >Dana> >--- "midinovelarg" wrote:> > > Anybody knows if i can change the patterns at Korg ER1 with my XX7?> > _________________________________________________________________> The new MSN 8: smart spam protection and 2 months FREE* > http://join.msn.com/?page=features/junkmail Yahoo!
