RE: [xl7] Which ROMs

2004-01-19 by patrick a thomas

For R&B, definitely get the Pop! The Basses and kits may serve you well.
If you are into tweaking and editing your sounds, the ZR would be nice for
you. It has an excellent piano sample and tons of sounds that are decent
when edited. It also has the General Midi sounds and setup. If you need
more Rhodes, pads, and background sounds, you may look into the vintage
card. If you want add’l drum/perc sounds, you may get the Mo’ Phatt ROM.
It’s straight Hip-Hop.

Hope my little suggestions help,

Rev P

Subject: [xl7] Which ROMs

I'm picking up an XL-7. Although I'm not into dance music I got a
great deal so immediately want to expand the ROM. Is there a
cheaper source to buy than EMU's site right now? Please no flaming,
I know their site is reasonable. I've checked on eBay and don't see
too many used ROMs. I almost got a ZR for $75 but backed out at the
last minute.

I'm interested in composing pop, R&B, jazz, etc. I'm leaning
towards purchasing the mo phatt and the pop collection. Is the ZR
better than the pop or vice versa? Any other rom recommendations?

TIA
