Speaking of wishlists...

I was thinking about this today (bored at work), when the USB port becomes
functional on the XL/MP-7's, it could really open up a whole new realm of
possibilities for us Command Station users. Wouldn't it be cool to not
only have a graphical Preset editor, but also a graphical pattern and song
editor as well, sort of a Super E-Loader? First you would have to hook up
the Command Station to the computer with both the MIDI ports (to play back
patterns and songs while you edit them), and the USB ports (to update the
pattern, preset or song being edited when you're done). Imagine a screen
with three tabs (options) on the top: Song, Pattern, and Preset. Clicking
on each one would open up the relavant parameters associated with that
option:

1. Song Editor. You could see a time line display of your song and be
able to drag and drop patterns around in order to build and rearrange your
song. Along the top of this display would be a single lane for the song
track. Once you make your changes, you click on an "Update" button and
the Song gets saved to the location you specify inside the XL/MP.

2. Pattern Editor. This could be similiar to a really basic MIDI
sequencer, sort of laid out like the MIDI Tracker is now. It could have
three panes, the middle showing you the notes, the lower showing you the
CC data. The upper pane could have areas where you select and edit your
effects and routings, that sort of stuff. Since it would only have to be
up to 32 measures long, it's not like it would have to be complex or
anything. You could draw in your notes or move them around while it plays
back, and when you get it the way you want, stop and hit "Update", and
it's saved in the XL-7!

3. Preset Editor. Lots more to control here, but you could have seperate
pages for arps and some of the more deatiled editing pages. The ability
to see all your initial waveforms in a list would be great too, and would
totally speed up the process of finding the right ones you're looking for.

Ummm, ok, I'll go back to work now and stop day dreaming... :)
