Emu XL-7 & MP-7 User's Group

This guy, who is in business of doing sounds to samplers and synths, 
has seen an skecth of that thing we all are waiting.. check this, 
discussion was about the namm 2004, and what would be shown:

SC:No SP1200. We were in discussion, 3 years ago, about a SP1600 but 
that died a death. Look for the EmulatorX as one of the new Emu 
product releases. Then there is the softsynth.......

sc:It was not about not gettig the parts but about the cost of making 
the parts. Emu run all rom burns off the Scotts Valley factories and 
parts are manufactured in China to keep costs down. This is where all 
the PK range of keyboards were made and assembled, the roms were then 
burnt and assembled in Scotts Valley. Most manufacturers do this as 
well to keep their parts and labour costs down.
The SP1600 was fantastic looking. I was commissioned to create the 
drum fonts for that box and the blueprints made me moist but the 
build put the unit in the top end price bracket and had to be put on 
hold. Maybe one day, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Me:You've actually seen a sketch of it?
what did it look like, compared to command stations? large display?

sc:Stunning. Black over siver/grey design. ****loads of knobs and 4 
sliders, realtime heaven. Nice big display, loads of varying 
connections on the back. Went from 8 bit all the way to 24 bit, even 
tho it was named 1600. Mutli import and format reader.
The whole thing made me moist. The costs were just too high, 
predominantly because thay wanted to put an analogue board in there 
like the original and even 16 meg analogue costs a bundle compared to 
SIMM memory.
Shame.



So, i'm gonna keep on waiting for it :))
