Each track can address 16 MIDI channels. This is done by assigning the track to either Multi A or Multi B. You have a set of 16 independent channels for A and B, thus 32 internal MIDI channels. The Xl-7 defaults to a Single MIDI channel per track ( this will channelize all data on that track to one MIDI channel), but that can easily be changed by pressing "Pattern EDIT" and going to the 13th screen. You should also note when visiting this screen, a tracks destination can be internal only, external only or both. This makes using the sequencer with other gear very easy and flexible > > 2.
