Yeah, for certain styles of music the ppq of a sequencer can impact the feel of it. I'm sure everyone has heard of hip-hop and electronic music using the MPC a lot, especially for sequencing beats. The theory is, when you're playing a riff, or pounding out a beat, the sequencer is not capturing your actual performance, it's basically quantizing you to whatever resolution it has. If you played jazz into an MPC it would not come out sounding fluid. Sorry I don't have any links.
