I did some very basic tests: (1) with Midi only template and (2) with 
Normal template.  On simple tests (1 overdub of midi and audio on top 
of two previously recorded tracks), midi data was recorded when I 
switched patterns by hand.  However, patch changes in patterns were 
NOT recorded.

So, my guess is that the cause is (1) user settings/configuration, 
(2) system limitations, etc.

Disclosure:  running P2500 with XL rom from XL-1 turbo (not sure if 
this would make a difference).
