Magic, its not all that bad! The s/n ratio and other tech specs of the new audigy cards today is near matching that of the 'professional' cards you talk of (terratec, turtle beach etc) and the bundled software you get is excellent for the price. The SbLive has 2 simultaneous inputs, and you should be able to choose the option 'what you hear' in the SbLive mixer interface, or advanced volume control record settings. This will mean the souncard will record anything that is playing into it. So in theory you should be able to use line & mic input at the same time. Sorry I can't expand on that - its been ages since I used mine, got no documentation to refer to after I sold it but I'm sure you can record 2 sources at the same time.
