Emu XL-7 & MP-7 User's Group

Ok...

I have a pattern with two Channels intended to be used.  Channel 1 is
the drum track that I recorded.  Channel 2 is some preset I chose and
recorded.

Before I record on Ch. 2, the default preset for that was Kit-10.  I
changed the preset to something like preset 33^3 and then recorded the
pattern.

After I made the recording, I saved the pattern and moved on.

Next day, I load up the pattern and found that Ch.2 still had preset
Kit-10 and not the preset I originally wanted.  

This is getting frustrating because I've been dealing with this for
weeks.  Any idea what is going on here and how I could get the preset
to stick?  There are times the preset changes sticks but there are
some rare occurences where the presets do not stick.

The fix I found is I erase the whole track on Channel 2 and re-record
it again using the preset that I want.  That MOSTLY works but there
are times it doesn't.  Any ideas how I could make this work consistently?
