I can name quite a few 'pros' who use Cubase SX. Radiohead and Hans Zimmer, come to mind. I can name a great deal more pros who can't stand protools.
As far as logic and mastering to 2 track tape, I can't think of anyone who can disparage them.
(If you've only ever seen Cubast VST, then you need to look again. VST was the biggest pile of crap. I left Logic for Cubase, just about the time that Logic got bought out - they just stopped developing the midi side of Logic around 3.5)

The pros they all use : a mac + Logic in conjunction with Pro Tools
hooked to an ultra-xpensive analog recorder(minimum configuration)...
and the others (us), we stay on PC crap with cubase (and it's timing
problems and poor audio engine), or even worse, with Sonar... (just
joking!)
