Re: [xl7] MP7/XL vs PX7

2003-09-08 by erik_magrini@Baxter.com

Which do you think would be a better choice? The MP7 with an additional
XL7 ROM installed? OR the PX7. The same price for both. I guess what I am
trying to ask is whether the new sounds of the PX7 are worth having over
the MP/XL sounds combined. Not thinking about the color.

>>>Personally I think it comes down to what kind of sounds you need more.
The XL/MP combo will give you a TON of very dance and urban oriented
patches, as well as quite a few bread and butter ones as well. The PX
will give you all the new drum samples, and a decent amount of bread and
butter patches as well, but nowhere near as many as teh XL/MP combo. I
use a PX ROM and a XL ROM (and a P2500 Rom too) and I would say to go with
the XL rom if you're doing more dance based music. The new drum samples
on the PX rom are VERY nice, but mostly they seem to be oriented towards
acoustic kits and the include electronic drum samples are pretty much the
same as those on the XL rom anyway. <<<

By the way, do you guys think Emu will drop prices more, or come out with
a new model (perhaps based on P2500) within the next 6 months?

>>>Nah, I don't think we'll see a big price drop, or even a smaller one
for long long time. I can't imagine Emu making any money off these things
if they sold them any cheaper. As for new gear, we'll have to wait until
AES and Winter NAMM to see what Emu's been up to lately :) <<<
