I'm answering my own question from a month or so back hoping others may benefit: Since SoundDiver doesn't work with the P2500 machines, I splurged and got Unisyn for my XL-7. In short, it works. It's hard to compare it with SD since they go about things very differently. But, it does work and Motu seems to actually support and update their product, Emagic wasn't so great in that area. For editing the synth sounds, Unisyn is much better than using the display on the XL-7 and it has great sound database features. I'm just starting to scratch the surface of Unisyn, so an in-depth review will have to wait. So far the only thing I don't like is the way Unisyn edits the arpeggios, but that's more of a personal preference, not an issue with the software. I'm using Unisyn on OS 9.1 and it hasn't crashed once. Can't say the same for SoundDiver. So Mac users with a P2500 machine do have something that works.
