Holy crap these are gems! The Alesis MKIIs sounded very VERY nice, but they lacked the 'honesty' I was looking for to most accurately EQ software-made music. (Maybe I just didn't twiddle with em enough). It was suggested by someone on here that I look at the M- Audio Bx5's as a possible solution. After a little research and asking around, I bit the bullet and ordered em last week. They just arrived today and I've been blissing out to my music as I've never heard it before.. I was previously mixing on 4x 15watt pc speakers and a Labtec subwoofer. It was nearly impossible to keep the levels across them even for playing music, let alone writing it. After installing the Bx5s as the front speakers (still use 2 of the better old pc speakers as "rear" speakers for Surround) and playing a few tracks (Crystal Method - Keep Hope Alive, Lord of the Dance tracks and some good 'ol Vice City cds), these blew the MKIIs out of the water in my very humble opinion. The best (and worst) part is that I can hear just how bad the EQing was in my tracks. Gonna have to run back through and fix all that soon. And the XL-7 has never sounded better =). The verdict, the Alesis MKIIs kick for home PA and likely editing as well, but if you're in a bedroom studio, want brutally honest sound, and wanna save $100, get them. They're a steal for the price and POW-ER-FUL. *Steps off soapbox* I'm gonna go dance around to some tunes. :) /.jacob
