John, After installing the ROM, did the BEAT's parameters become available such as key transpose, latch configuration, key velocity and so on? I know that on my XL-1 the ARPS/BEATS button which is in the same location as the COMPARE button on your unit gets me access to those parameters but on my P2K(ORBIT 3), the MULTI button(same location as the COMPARE button on yours)accesses those parameters. Since the units I have demo'ed only had the standard ROM's, I was unable to see if the screens were the same. I use a Launch Pad to trigger percussion from the BEATs presets(same as the 13 trigger pads on the **-7's so without the sequencer, I basically have **-7's since I have the Pure Phatt ROM installed in the Xl-1) http://groups.yahoo.com/group/orbit3/files/Orbit-3% 20Specs/Launchpad.jpg The way I had to set the BEATs parameters in my setup was to set the key transpose to +12 because being at 0 with the 13 pad setup on my Launch Pad would be below where the notes started. Also make sure you latch on the parts needed. 1-16, Groups 1-4 and your start, stop and mute keys as well(as long as you can find the screens first). Hope this helps.
