rEalm's Live Set methodology & re: music style... & Some "?"sss

2003-08-20 by sincultura13

Your music is pretty cool... I like the logical way you develop ideas
and the samples from a comedian (which remind me of Bill Cosby
on "Himself") on 'jello speak' and the guitar-like melody on last
track which hits me in a similar way to one of U2's old songs. I
don't know what too call your music... Sort of electronic all the way
through but with really varied nonelectronic influences? I don't know
much about electronic music, so pardon if I stated the obvious...

My music is going in a different direction... I use alot of acoustic-
like sounds, build/develop ideas harmonically (instead of in a lineal
way)and use drums more sparingly. I guess more like ambient? In any
case I layer a lot and sometimes use really long samples... So I
built on your idea and started to not only do what you do in reason
with logic, but also straight on the Sp-505 (the sp-505 is cool that
way, chopping and resampling is really easy and effective). Now, I'm
going to get a Scsi card so I can load long samples to my ESi more
effectively and am experimenting with building 32 bars patterns. I
also plan to get two (or atleast one) cheap & flexible effect unit to
tweak things live... It should work out beautifully... Well, atleast
it doesin my head it does! :)

Any suggestions for a CHEAP & flexible effect unit for "live" use? I
really wanted the Line 6 unit with all the delay/echo effects... but
is more than what I have (or would want to since for not much more I
could get a basic laptop and use vsts) to spend... I like delays,
tape delay and echos the most...

BTW, Anybody here using a command station with a dj cd player live?

thanks...
