The schwanz is unusable with Celtic artwork. We all
know that blue camouflage is the best adornment for a
dork.

That is part of the reason I unsubb'd from AH. If I
had thought about it, I wouldn't have asked Colin to
post that pic of the system, but some people were
interested in how it would look, and a pic was taken
at a session a couple days ago, so... :-/

Yeah, a Big Daddy Kane set of artwork on a synth
would certainly invite less reaction than other
styles of artwork ;-)

New module idea! New module idea!

interesting point, doc.

when mark called me a butt-pirate i was certain it would result in some sort
of controversy.
perhaps if he had criticized my "front panel"
(heh, wink-wink, nudge-nudge, say no more, say no more)
the thread would have been more interesting
(i knew i shouldn't have let you guys convince me to get those celtic
tattoos on my schwanz!).
now it looks like technosaurus is getting ready to go through the ringer on
[AH] for their front panel design...when will the human race learn from it's
mistakes!? WHEN!?
anyway, i'm actually looking forward to this wiard mini-synth. can't wait to
see/hear it. any ETA grant?
also, i was thinking for the mini-synth that instead of celtic designs, it
could have a few racing stripes. you know, to make it look it's tearing ass
around your studio even though it's just sitting there...any thoughts?

ah, indeed.
as the song says: "where have all the flowers gone?"
;')

On a visit to wiard world HQ last summer, Grant was nice enough to
lift the curtain and let me honk around on the prototype. On the
surface, the idea seems unglamorous but when you can hold it in your
hand, it's really cool- ENORMOUS fun. The sound is way bigger than the
box, it's smal but it ain't no toy!

I had STP, Hurst Shifter, and Cherry exhaust systems stickers on my
go-kart even though it had a two-cycle engine, belt drive and used
2-inch piece of galvanized pipe for a muffler...
so why not candy-apple red with cream-white stripes?

Mini Synth

What were the features?
Apologies if this has been revealed before or it comes under the 'official
secrets act'.

I don't think it's a secret, In fact, I think Grant may have posted
some info on this group last fall.
anyway...
What I played was a prototype so I'll intone the following disclaimer
and then spill the beans-

designer capriciousness disclaimer:
Grant may well change his mind about what features from his prototype
should/can be included in a production model or he may even abandon
the whole project and make a solar flare alarm instead. Knowing
Grant, nothing would surprise me!

having stated that, the gadget I played had 1 VCO, a variable
waveshaper, A VCF, A VCA, an LFO (sqr & tri) & an ADSR. The 'keyboard'
was a stylus on metal pads, there was one chromatic kbd and four modal
rows of pads, the intervals of which were fixed in four modes. (ie
Aeolian, Dorian, Lydian etc) It was small enough to hold in one hand
and the sound was startlingly beefy. Routing was done with switches.

I'm sure Grant will correct me if memory has not served me well here

Interesting fact is the Hurst in Hurst Shifter is also the inventor of
the "Jaws of Life" emergency release system. He originally
developed it for rescuing race car drivers, it has since been
adopted by Fire and Rescue around the world and saved
countless lives.

It's good to keep things in perspective....

In a phone conversation last week, Grant mentioned a "Serge NTO-like"
oscillator with a Vactrol based filter (Borg). 10 chips on the board.
Sounds cool....
