Thanks all, I knew I had seen something on the Wiard site and thank you for all your replies. It certainly is a fun and interesting controller, EMS VC3 joystick to the sophisticated max.
Not Wiard but perhaps some of you will find this of interest. BBC Radio 6 did a feature on the music of Daphne Oram, as far I can see it came off the album of her work (I'm just about to order it). For those that don't know she was part of the BBC Radiophonic workshop, actually she was a founder I think. She developed a technique "Oramics" based on marking film to control oscillators etc.
You can listen to the show for a week at http://www.bbc.co.uk/6music/shows/freakzone/

I really need to remember where I put that. If you look in the "photos" section there are
color coded 3D plots of the functions.

The Joysticks are normalized to the JAG inputs. Xin and Yin are the JAG inputs which defeat
the Joystick outputs.

Dome is high in the middle and zeroish at any edge. Edge is 5 volts in the middle, high at
each side and zero at the corners.

Polarity switches the inputs ONLY from 0-10 for controllers to +/-5 for modulators (LFOS)

Thanks for the link! Yes, Daphne Oram is def. one of the greatest
pioneers of electr. music. She dedicated a lot of her time to the
development of a photoelectronic music instrument called Oramics.
Paradigm Discs has released a double of CD from her estate. This is by
far the most complete edition of her work which ever has been available:

Thanks for that link Ingo...

i couldn't access the BBC freakzone files from outside "England's
green and pleasant land"
(sheesh! whatta bunch of soreheads... over one itty bitty colonial
skirmish (ok...and the full scale decimation of their language))
;'>
but i could get to the stalk.net files, and there were things there
i'd never heard before...wonderful!!!!

It behooves us 'kids' to remember that she produced those compositions
with gear on which even something as de-rigeur as polyphony required
days to achieve.

We take a LOT for granted nowadays.
(like, i always wondered if the violinists of 18th century Vienna had
to chase down their own cats* every time they broke a string, of if
that was somebody else's job....)

anyway...
Some of those tracks called to mind another brilliant pioneer whom the
media is citing as a 'progenitor of techno'... Bruce Haack!

thanks for exposing this cool material folks!

*actually it was, more likely, sheep or goats
