Hi John and gang,
I'm here -- played in a guerrilla art piece tonight on Lincoln with high-frequency, highly directional sounds emanating from speakers attached to our torsos. Needless to say, it spooked a few people.

But I'm playing Friday night at the Dorsch Gallery (Wynwood art district) with Gustavo Matamoros (electronics/saw) and Jorge Gonsalvez, who paints light on the wall (ya gotta see this Potuguese guy's work -- really lovely).

I will play percussion and analog modular (although I only have one case -- the Doepfer, with some Plan B and Livewire inside). The Wiard/Blacet/Metalbox synth isn't in a shippable case, alas. (But I'm working on that....)

Also, on Saturday, I'll have the Southeastern premiere of my opera about Emperor Norton, "I, Norton" with the Florida International University new music ensemble performing. It will probably include a bit of live modular as well.

In a related note: I created one of the pieces for the opera using my Noise Ring to generate the rhythmic structure -- and the results are pretty whacked. Percussion hits were placed on top. An excerpt is going to appear on an upcoming analog-synth compilation (I'm not exactly sure when it will come out, though...). But that part won't appear in Miami.

tryin to keep it as on-topic as possible... :-)

Hey, there, Gino Robair! I understand that you are in Miami:
    http://www.subtropics.org/

That's my neck of the woods, so I am hoping that I can make it to one of
your perfomances on Friday or Saturday. Problem is, the Subtropics schedule
page is at once very lengthy (and redundant) yet somewhat vague (and
redundant). By the way, I missed the first week entirely because the
Subtropics promotional efforts were not the greatest, this year.

Anyway, the schedule page refers to street performances Lincoln Road --
well, heck, it's close to a mile long! Are the Lincoln Road performances
near ArtCenter? (To the curious: Lincoln Road is a pedestrian mall with no
vehicular traffic.)

I'd love to catch your show tonight but I am extrememly sleep-deprived today
and will surely be crashing soon. :-(

This is certainly OT for the Wiard list, but maybe someone else in Miami
will find out about Gino's shows this way, so I hope y'all will pardon the
digression.
