yes,
there are 2 1/8" line level audio inputs (the Borg is a dual module). They will accept any line-level signal. I process the external outputs from a ProTools Mix system, all the time with a Borg.
For Low-level signals like most guitar pickups or microphones you will probably need a preamp in line before the borg input

for line level signals, patch cords for most connector types (RCA-to-1/8, 1/4-to-1/8) are stocked at Radio Shack

absolutely.
all of the 300-series modules are designed as stand-alone 'voices'. They will all make some kind sound on their own. The exceptions are probably the mixolator, and the sequantizer needs a external clock source.
