Re: [wiardgroup] The fabulous Boogie Filter

2005-01-06 by Andrew Scheidler

This is great news... I am chomping at the bit to send Grant money :)
Up until the Boogie showing up, I had been frustrated in my search for a
replacement for my (sold) Xpander's filters. Tony Clark has an
interesting filter design (variable slope), but he wasn't up for making
more just yet:

He *is* Frac-racking me a Frostwave MS-20 filter :)

Also, if you're within visiting distance of Grant, you should be marking
your calendar for the 7th annual AHMW Get-Together. It is on March 26th
this year, and is located in northeast Indiana. More info will be
posted here in the near future:

Over the last couple year, it's turned into more of a "Modular Heaven"
get together. Last spring we had Wiard, Blacet, CGS, Aries, Serge,
MOTM, Doepfer, etc etc etc. Check out the pictures from 2004!

I visited Grant last week - he's an interesting chap and a fine
host -- and picked up the new filter. My reaction? It's absolutely
wonderful!!! Great design, very quiet, incredible sound. It, of
course, can resonate into self-oscillation, and in a really useful
and manageable way (not overpowering and dangerous like the
Borg). It is warm and phat, great for those chilly winter
compositions. The big frequency knob is also a grand attraction.
The Boogie will now be generally used in my system as the
primary sound-sculpting filter and the Borg as my stereo tone
control filter. A Boogie and a Borg?? God save Ireland! I'm all
smiles and joy and contentment. In a world of uncertainty,
anxiety, and disaster . . . well at least we have Grant and his
fabulous designs for our creative desires and impulses. I will
get a Blacet In/Out next so I can use these tools on theremin,
guitar, electric thumb piano, etc. Thanks to Grant (and Mr.
Blacet).
Reflect on your accomplishments and contributions to the
positive side of what we call civilization.

Sincerely
Bill Gibson
