Because the Serge uses unsheilded banana cables, the output impedance is very low in order to "absorb" any noise on the cable. The resistor value is typically 330 ohm. The 1/8" systems use shielded cables and an output resistor of 1K or the equivalent. This higher output resistor allows the outputs to be connected together to form a passive mixer at the output. It also protects the outputs when drivng a signal into a shorted patch cable (which happens). This will not work for 1 volt per octave outputs like the quantizer output of the Sequantizer because the additional load will mess up the scaling. But it should not damage it electrically. The Sequantizer gate outputs are diode isolated and designed to be connected together to form what is called a "wire-OR". This is also true of the clock output of the Noise Ring, but the Noise Ring has a voltage divider after the diode. --- In wiardgroup@yahoogroups.com, Ryan Ryan <hal3001@y...> wrote: > ok, well in the serge manual, ther eis stated almost every 2 pages "DO NOT CONNECT TWO OUTPUTS TOGETHER!" and says 1 out of 1000 will destroy things due to power reuqirements. > > is this the case with 1/8" or just banana jacks? :-) > > btw, got an all wiard track up, bear in mind, it was created for something called "rapid composers consortium event" something that is created within 24 hours, I only learneda bout it, 3 hours before hand. So this was it in 3 hours, all wiard for synth sounds, with some effectts from a sony dps v55(not some, but a lot, lol:-)) > > http://www.midiwarez.net/rcc/december2004/woggle-athreehour woggle.mp3 > > oh yea and i just got the wiard yesterday, so was just learning more of it, It's a really bad song, but maybe somone will enjoy a bleep or 2 from it. sadly enough i used a preset on it ! lol the "pretty arpeggios" one. Also a picture of the wiard over here http://www.midiwarez.net/rcc/december2004/woggle-threehourw oggle.JPG more patches than was in the patch i last used, but i was trying to make it look massive lol!:-) > > > -ryan > > > --------------------------------- > Do you Yahoo!? > Yahoo!
