Bob Moog Foundation - help fund Bob's archives
2007-10-05 by Bill Sautter
Dear fellow Moog & synth afficiandos,
You are receiving this because we have had past dealings on Moog & synth matters (or you're on a Moog-related newsgroup to which I subscribe). It is a 1-time message, so no need to "opt-out" if you're not interested. That said, if you're a Moog & synth lover like I am, then I can't think of a more worthy cause to consider supporting financially or otherwise...
I was invited by Michelle Moog-Koussa & Laura Moog to attend the Moog Foundation Advisory Board meeting after the Moog Symposium in NYC week before last (which preceded the excellent MoogFest4 on 9/22).
Bob's "archives" that were discovered in several locations after his passing were one of the topics of conversation. They are extensive, and because he didn't store a lot if it in climate-controlled environments, some pieces have mold and/or deterioration, but many others are okay. The cataloging, preservation and restoration (as need be) of "Dr. Bob's" archives is EXTREMELY important to the Foundation & family.
We're excited that Billy Corgan of Smashing Pumpkins has committed to support the project! http://www.contactmusic.com/news.nsf/article/corgan%20setting%20up%20moog%20museum_1045678
The Moog Foundation needs to raise funds for the restoration & preservation of the Moog archives, among their other stated goals of endowing academic scholarships, music education and expansion of Moog & synth-related concerts around the world. If you would like to donate -- or know any deep-pocketed friends, relatives, corporations or foundations -- then please do so at: www.moogfoundation.org
P.S. Does anyone have a photo of the Beatles or Rolling Stones playing their Moog modulars? If so, please email them to me, so I can pass them on to the Foundation.
