If this has the usual two-buss keyboard (with two contacts for each key:  one for the note, and one to trigger),  then it's likely that the note contact for middle c is not making contact (broken or bent) -- this would result in the effect you describe, since most of those older synths have a "note memory" that retains the last control voltage until a new one is played.

rogue key doubling

Hi there!

was wondering if anyone has experienced this....

whatever the last note is that i played gets repeated when i press my
middle c key ....

i dont hear the middle c note... i hear the previous played note!

same octave..everything...

if i play a high a note...then press middle c ... i hear the high a
again..

thanks so much for an informative bit of info and trouble shooting...
the 2 bus information gave me exactly what i needed to know what to
look for...

turns out there was some black stuff on the contact that i didnt
notice before... i trimmed the contact and resoldered a piece of
copper...and BOOM.... WORKS LIKE A CHARM!

2 years of posting on different groups and i get no worthy help until
NOW... thanks again !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
