RE: [oldsynths] Re: [oldsynth] Joystick vendor?

2003-03-01 by Rory McDonald

Analog joysticks for the old Apple IIs are simply two potentiometers and
some switches.
They are fairly easy to get on eBay in good condition. Search APPLE II
JOYSTICK
If I remember right they are 150K Ohm pots.

Greetings;

Allow me to suggest this, I have not tried yet but
have been inspecting these things very closely and I
suspect they have good potential. Try to locate a
discarded/used or perhaps a new game controller for
the sony psone or a derivative (read clone) unit thas
claims to have "ANALOG" function on it. Some other
desktop game units do have similar assemblies on their
controllers ** but ** some also have a set of four
switches around the they're called "digital"
joysticks- avoid those.

I built mine from an old computer joystick that was
indeed a true potentiometer based joystick. So there's
another source of joystick assemblies...

Hope that helps.
