patches online

1999-07-12 by mark scetta

i notice that there has been some talk of creating a MOTM patch archive
online. my question is, are there any online resources currently available
that have modular patch diagrams available (designed for other modulars)
that we can use as starting points and idea-generators?

and thanks for the info on the arp 2500. it was very interesting learning
for me. too bad the switches are so damn expensive.

My idea for documenting patches for my own personal use consists of cheekily
downloading the front panel images from synthtech.com, then using Paint Shop
Pro or similar to reverse the images, and white-out the knobs. They can then
be imported into MS Word or something similar and arranged into the order as
they appear in your rack. Its then a simple case of drawing on the position of
the knob pointers and patch leads.

This was inspired by a Do**fer patch book that I heard about. This has a
transparancy front cover, allowing you to change your mind half way through.

Andy.

Paul,

Wouldn't it be easy enough for you to make your panel legends available on
the web site? What are they now, CorelDraw files?

I vaguely remember you had already mentioned the possibility of doing this.

1) I will be more than happy to be the patch repository.

2) I have the panels in Corel Draw. I can then go to GIF B/W (smallest file
size)
and you can cut/paste into your favorite paint program to "look like" your
patch.

I like the "floating" module patches in Roland's "The Synthesizer" 2nd
Edition book.

Andy,
That is a great Idea. How about posting the Pics to Paul or Steve for the
rest of us to download since you've already done half the work.
Thanks,
Jim

The files would be better if they were GIFs or JPEGs, not all oof us have
Corel ($$$).

I can do if needed, but I suspect Paul's original files will be better. Let me
know if required. I have attached one image as an example.
I havent got any patches yet, I only finished building my first set of modules
over the weekend.
