[motm] possibly reasonable module request (Polymoog Resonators)

I have been thinking of removing the 3 band switchable resonant 
lowpass/bandpass/highpass resonator section in my nonfunctioning Polymoog and 
putting it in a seperate box for a long time.  Then it occured to me, I could 
maybe turn it into a custom MOTM module.  Then I thought, it could be a real 
MOTM module with voltage controlled frequencies.  Since there is no current 
plan for a fixed filter bank module, why not go with a voltage controlled 
variable Polymoog filter bank.  Now that would be unique.

It's been too long since I played a Polymoog for me to remember - how 
does this filter section sound? How does a 3 band lowpass or highpass 
section work, anyway?

The Polymoog 3 band resonator section sounds great and is good for doing 
drastic sound changes.  Each of the three sections has a Cutoff Freq, 
Resonance and Gain control.  The frequency of each section can cover a range: 
60-300, 300-1500, 1500-7500 Hz.  And then there is a Pass Mode switch for 
Low/Band/High.  If in Bandpass mode it is easy to understand.  It works like 
three bandpass filters in parallel and their gain levels adjust their 
relative loudnesses.  Where it gets a little more unclear is when switched 
into Lowpass or Highpass mode because of the total lack of an explaination in 
the manual (but it does have a graphic representation).  It appears that each 
of the three filters can now become a lowpass or highpass filter, but those 
filters still only process audio within their limited audio band.  So for 
example the middle lowpass filter won't pass all audio below its cutoff, 
instead it passes all audio below its cutoff but above 300Hz.  At least 
that's what the graphic indicates.  It's a strange beast.  The Polymoog 
allows an external audio signal to be processed through its resonator section 
so even if you find the Polymoog not worth playing anymore, it still makes a 
nice audio processor.
