Having just finished a 3 weekend MOTM building marathon and finshing off all 
my modules as of today, I noticed that same problem and thought about the 
same solution.  But as a test, I was actually able to get the bracket off 
without taking off the knobs and loosening the pots.  You just need to get 
some needle-noise pliers and slightly bend up the those two extentions enough 
so you can remove the bracket.
