I've been contemplating buying an Orgon Enigiser which is their complete
synth package. It does have an unusual multi-mode filter. Only recently
have the Enigiser modules been available separately.

I've never heard a demo of it, it does have a reputation as "unique". Maybe
JH has heard one?

BTW: Charles' demos are up at www.synthtech.com/demo

and there is some stuff going on there that is amazing! There are some more
he sent, and I'll try
to get those poseted in my spare time. HAHAHAHA.

Listened to these last night. Beautiful. The female voices
into the 410 left me with only one thought, they're too short.
I'd buy a CD of just an hour of this.

ivan,
i`m thinking about the vcf. most everything else they offer ( with the
possible exception of the waveform processors ) is covered either by what i
have or plan to get from "brand d" or motm.
best,
dave

The previous Enigiser was an all-in-one device that reminded me of the old
Oberheim SEM. Enclosed is a JPG of the front panel. It looked like a good
live-performance device since it was fairly compact. Not sure what the new
one looks like, but sounds like they're goign down the Analogue Systems path.

Hi all,

Geoff Waterston is the guy behind the Enigiser. He writes the odd
article for 'The Mix' magazine in the UK, including some DIY synth
articles.

The Enigiser filter is I think a double cascaded state variable filter
made from CA3080s. The filter for the modular they offer seems to be a
simple single state variable. Not ground breaking stuff, but a nice
enough filter really. The Powertran Transcendant series and the Formant
used this filter, and it does sound quite good. I think the BassStation
also used the same circuit.

Chances are that the upcoming MOTM SEM filter will sound just as good.

ivan,
i didn`t know they made a "self contained" unit before. everything i noticed
on their website talked about modules.

tony,
the info i got from geoff leads me to believe that the vcf module is probably
also a cascaded state variable design given some of its "modes" ( ie : 3 and
4 pole responses ).
best,
dave v.
