VC AR - the final verdict?

VC AR - the final verdict?

2000-02-02 by Dave Bradley

A lot of people really seem to want the delay included, as do I. Trouble is,
I also very much like the END pulse for retriggering and chaining, and I
want to keep it in 1U format. So I seem to have 1 too many things for the
panel.

Is there any way to eliminate the mode switch, yet still keep both AR and
ASR functionality?

Use a switching stereo jack for trig/gate in, have it be ASR(gate) when
plugged in all the way and AR(trig) when pulled out by one click?

(sorry, couldn't resist)

Couldn't you place the switch horizontally below the release knob and
put the end jack where the switch was?

Another question might be, Should we include a cv attenuator for each cv
in, or is there some way the pots could act as cv attenuators when a
plus is inserted?

Why won't it just AR if a trigger (short gate) is present and ASR if a gate
holds? I must not understand it...

The mode switch is for re-triggering the EG, right? To make it act more like
an LFO than an EG? If you had that END output, couldn't it just be patched
back into the Gate input for re-triggering? Then you wouldn't need the
switch. I'm firing that off the top of my head so maybe it's not that
simple... haven't thought too deeply about it.

A kind word, perhaps?

I was thinking that the gate coming in would have to be multipled with the
modules own "end" output, but if there's a way to make a perpetual motion
machine out of this...

The END output can also be described as a NOT envelope output [EG output = 0
volts], a comparator that goes high when the envelope returns to zero. Plug
that in to the GATE input and LFO -- my comments about not being able to
retrigger the envelope still need to be addressed, however.
