Need alternate part for 951A pot

Need alternate part for 951A pot

2009-11-10 by Argitoth

It looks like Digikey and Mouser both don't have a supply of 951A
pots. Can anyone suggest an alternate? I found this mouser part #
652-3852A-282-104AL and digikey # 3852A-282-104AL-ND

What do you think?

I'm not sure what you're looking for. If you want a Bourns 100K linear
pot, Allied has them, search for 91A1A-B24-B20L.

Allied # 91A1A-B24-B20L will fulfill the 951A pot requirement called
for in the MOTM-440? It's also called for in the MOTM-300 BOM as well
as the 830 BOM.

Re: [motm] Need alternate part for 951A pot

The only differences I can see are:

91A1A-B24-B20L is conductive plastic, 3/4 inch shaft

95A1A-B28-A20L is cermet, 7/8 inch shaft

I use the 91A1A-B24-B20 all the time, I don't see why it wouldn't work
for the 440, 830, and 300 (unless it needs to be soldered directly
onto the PCB).

I just noticed that Allied also has the 91A1A-B28-B20 in stock
(conductive plastic, 7/8 inch shaft). That's probably a better choice
because then all your knobs will line up better (if your other pots
are also 7/8 inch shaft that is).

New Cabinet / Good dealer

2009-11-11 by David Moylan

I just received a new cabinet from nice-racks.com that I'm really happy
with. I posted some pictures at

http://schmedley.com/moylando/

It's a 26U slanted cabinet. I already had an 18U that they made me a
while back. I went with a larger slanted one because I've learned space
runs out quick, I like the ergonomics, and the additional height at the
bottom sets the modules above a keyboard.

The cabs use standard rack rails, so I'm using 10-32 stainless allen
head screws rather than the standard MOTM 8-32. The heads are small and
the stainless color helps demarcate the module boundaries. The cabinets
also have rails on the rear for mounting power supplies.

I think the photos illustrate what might be called 'feature creep' in
the software world. Top cabinet is the first I built myself (15U).
That filled up quick so I got the middle cabinet (18U).....and so on....

Nice-racks is really responsive, can handle just about any custom
request, and I think the prices are reasonable. Overall a great option
for those looking for cabinet solutions. They don't list MOTM cabs on
the site anymore, but they can and do make them.

FWIW, I have no affiliation with them besides being a customer.
