Locating parts...

2007-06-28 by shari_en_jin

I'm starting to try and locate all the parts to start making some kits
for myself with the bare boards. One piece I'm not too sure about is
the Ferrite Beads... is there any particular
resistance/tolerance/impedance/heat tolerance that I need to look for?
Any particular shops to buy from? I've found most everything else at
Mouser and I'm trying to get as much from them as I can so as to
hopefully just have to pay one shipping charge...
thanks,
Ti_

Mouser #623-2743001112, also 623-2743001112LF for lead free, is what I use.

Mouser doesn't have a minimum order, but Digikey does. There are
MOTM parts, such as LED's, that Mouser does not stock. So if you
need parts from Digikey, it's better to fill out that order first
before ordering everything else from Mouser, in order to make
Digikey's minimum.

For hook-up wire, check out Jameco or All-Electronics. You can buy
hardware from McMaster-Carr.

Anyway, I haven't had to buy ferrite beads, as I still have a bunch
of them, but my first guess would be:

Mouser Part #: 623-2743009112LF
Manufacturer Part #: 2743009112 (made by Fair-Rite, new RoHS version)

i use one close to this -

Mouser 623-2743002112LF

both are probably fine.

ALright, here's another part question:
In the BOM for the 190VCA it just lists the Bourns trimmers as 3296
and 3386 and leaves off the "Y" and "P" that designates their
footprint as listed on the 440Filter's BOM.
Is it safe to assume that you would use the same footprints on all of
your PC boards? Like any 3296 25turn trim pot would be the "Y" style
and the same with the 3386's(P style)?
Thanks,
Ti_

Correct. The single turns are 'P' and the multi-turns are 'Y'.
