FS: MOTM-110, MOTM-700

After a few people expressed interest, then backed out, I've decided
to repost these at lower prices. Since the kits are no longer
available, I based my prices on those for assembled and tested
modules. Which is what these are. Both units are in excellent
cosmetic, electronic, and mechanical condition.

MOTM-110 VCA/Ring Modulator $280
This discontinued module, is no longer available from Synthesis
Technology. It has two independent sections. The dedicated VCA
section has a unique reversible gain control. The other balanced
modulator section, with AC/DC coupling switches and level knobs for
both inputs, can be used as a ring modulator when both switches are
set to AC, as a second audio VCA with one switch set to DC and the
other AC, and as a VCA to control modulation depth with both switches
set to DC. While it has several different features that are
unavailable on the smaller MOTM-190, I'm selling mine because I'm
tight on space, and have other signal multiplying gear.

MOTM-700 Dual Voltage-Controlled Router $220
Soon to be discontinued, some consider this to be an extremely useful
and unique module. Extremely well-designed, each independent section
works with either audio or critical DC voltages, is bidirectional,
and can even switch at audio rates. With its four LED's, it's also
fun to watch.

Motm 650 not tracking pitch correctly

2007-04-22 by Gene Schwartz

I haven’t used it in awhile, and I’ve moved to a new apt. I217;m noticing now that an octave on my midi sequencer is producing far less than an octave through the motm 650. Microtonality is nice, but I’d like to have this working correctly. I’m very far from expert in such areas, but could the power in this place be screwy? Everything else seems to be working...I think.

Thanks,
Gene

a) the power supply has nothing to do with it
b) how do you know it's the '650, not the VCOs?
c) are you certain the 12T Equal Temp scale is selected?
d) there is a small 11-turn white trimmer that sets 1V/Oct.

Sorry about the bandwidth – dumb user alert.

quite blatantly the Partch scale was chosen in the global options....it’s kind of funny – this is the functionality that led me to the motm 650 in the first place, and I probably was testing this out the last time I used it. I had suspected that the power in this place was faulty, so that’s where I was focused, when it was me all along.

Ah – all is well now. Thanks for the fast response.

Check if the 650 is putting out 1 volt higher each octave. A MIDI
keyboard might be easier than a sequencer for this test.

0. Like Paul said, double check the 650 is set for the 12T Equal Temp scale.
1. Put voltmeter on 650 CV out.
2. Play a note and hold it. Measure voltage.
3. Play the next octave higher. Voltage should be 1 volt more.

If playing an octave up make voltage go up 1 volt, the 650 is fine and
your problem may be the VCO, a bad cable, etc.. Try a different VCO
and/or a different cable.

Let us know what happens.

When do 1/8th inch users get a 1650?
