I've finally gotten around to assembling my kit backlog and am working on the MOTM-850. When I got to the 2n3904 I noticed that the pins are offset in the opposite direction than those on the board if I orient the part according to the silkscreen. Which is correct? The silkscreen or the holes? Thanks. Dave

While, I do not have a specific answer to your question, that is a common issue with common transistors. Transistors, or their various substitutions, available in the same package (eg. TO-92), can often have different pin-outs, or be offset differently. The best way is to look up or test the transistor you have in order to determine which pin is what, then figure out which traces go where based on the schematic. Fortunately, the Synthesis Technology schematics are excellent, and the boards are very well organized. On 4/18/07, David Moylan put forth:

The silkscreen orientation is correct. John Loffink The Microtonal Synthesis Web Site http://www.microtonal-synthesis.com The Wavemakers Synthesizer Web Site http://www.wavemakers-synth.com
