MOTM DIY is now available

Please visit:

www.synthtech.com/catalog

and in the upper left corner, new items will appear. Also, I've updated the News
page.

I know there are few pictures (ran out of time), I will add these over then next
few days. If I made any typos, please email me. Yes, some CEM/SSM prices went
up, but some went down. The numbers you see loading into the cart are ALL THAT I
HAVE. Unless I can scrounge more. I spent 4 hours combing all my storage bins
looking for strays (I found about 10 ICs I didn't know I had, like a CEM3371).
And you don't have to mess with PayPal unless to want to :)

If you get a message about the site/SSL being unsecured, that is WRONG and
UNIX/Solaris is to blame. Will yell at India Tech Support tonight about tit.

I will make more updates, but I've been typing since 7AM and I'm hungry.

Paul S.
BBQ to the rescue!!

While I'm sure that's a typo, the question is whether he added an
extra "t" or left off an "s" ;)

Hey All -

I've noticed the quad LFO is no longer available. I hate to stir up
another "this module is a must" sort of thread, but I have to say
that this one in particular *always* gets used in a patch. It's
REALLY COOL to take the summed out of the four LFOs into a mod input
and play with each LFO's rate. Truly a humanizer and can also make
things pretty wild and adds to stochastic patches nicely.

Hey Mike,

Paul announced quite a while ago that the MOTM-380 was to be
discontinued. Which is why I bought a second one during the big kit
sale. Admittedly, it's a module with special appeal to folks who throw
the word 'stochastic' into casually conversation :).

Re: MOTM DIY is now available

*sheepish grin* I guess that shows my biology background :)

Two would be good to have, I only have one. But I have plenty of
other LFO sources so it's not too bad. I'm (im)patiently awaiting
MOTM 2.0...

quad LFO, was Re: MOTM DIY

Oh, I thought that you did high-end pre-press work. ;-)

I missed out on that one, too, as I opted to get the other 2 LFOs
during the kit closeout.

The good thing is that it's not a hard module to duplicate. Plain
(non-VC) LFOs are simple to build, and so is a summing amp (mixer).
But you knew that already. :-) Of course, there's always the front
panel issue to deal with.

A 4 x 4 matrix mixer would be nice to have for this. 4 LFOs go in, 4
complex signals come out. Mixer controls that could attenuate and
invert would be great in this application. Just a thought.

Hey John -

Have you seen Ken Stone's little mixer? Super easy to build (coming
from a complete goof at this DIY stuff) and it has 6 ins. You could
put one together for cheap and add LFOs as you suggested. And throw in
a random source, too, just for the heck of it!

Yes, that would be perfect, it even has bi-polar mixing. Good idea on
using a random source or 2, as well (one plain and one
slew-limited?). Ken makes a board for almost every idea that I come
up with; Ken modestly says that he feels the same way about Serge
(i.e. all his ideas were previously done by Serge).

No need to stay a complete DIY goof, as long as you know which end of
a soldering iron to hold. ;-)

You could combine his Super Psycho LFO (or four!) with his quad mixer to really make it crazy (or just four utility LFO's). I believe that the Livewire Duo Cyclotron also does something similar to the 380 (though via cross-modulation as opposed to summing), though retro-fitting it with a large format panel (if you're unwilling to mix formats) would be a royal pain in the ass.
cheers,

no, paul missed out that all his ideas were previously done by Dave1,
Dave2, Bob, Katoh, etc...
