Todd Faulkner stole 2000$ (more or less) to four people of this list

2006-03-24 by edibennardo

I'm one of the four of course and I'm not an US resident. Is this
story going to be forgotten for ever? did the other three make any
progress under any aspect of this annoying story? I always said I
would join any kind of action of any type. Any thoughts? Apologizes to
the others who may not be interested in this topic.

Funny I should wake up and read this post - I was just thinking about
this last night.

The only reason I haven't done anything about it is that, to me, the
time and cash involved to make any action happen would surely exceed
the original amount of money stolen. So I've sat on my hands. I can't
speak for others, of course.

Does anybody know a good lawyer in Columbus, Ohio, partial to
starving musicians, who would want to take this on?

I am not a lawyer. But doesn't this look like fraud or theft? That is
a matter for the police. You would need evidence that a) an agreement
was made to purchase some items, b) the buyer sent the money and the
seller received it, and c) the goods were never delivered. That does
not seem too difficult to show. You have a record of emails and money
transaction records. It doesn't cost anything to contact the police and
ask.

Not to mention if this took place across state lines or via the mail I
believe that makes it a federal offense.

Copied from another list. I have not tried this.

------------------------------------

By the way, in case anyone needs to know how to file a fraud compalint, you
call the District Attorney for the County that the party committing fraud
lived in at the time the fraud was comitted. Say you wish to register a
criminal complaint of fraud for non-delivery of purchased goods. If the
amount is over $500, it is a felony fraud complaint.

It is not nessecary to know the current address of the criminal. The
complaint only needs to be filed for the address where the check was sent
to.

If the contact happened through the internet, you can report him to the Internet Crime Complaint Center...
I had a problem buying a bicycle headlight from someone in the US ($800), and reported it to this website, they forwarded the complaint onto the local police for action.

Thanks for the tip. I'll contact them immediately. Perhaps the other
three folks can do the same? This looks like a really good resource -
I just wish I'd known about it a year ago.

Checking in late here (as the 4th victim), let's coordinate on this and
any other strategies...
