MOTM

Does anyone have a recommendation for sourcing dual log pots of MOTM 
quality for use as audio input attenuators? I searched the archives and 
this was addressed, but several years ago and without a "final answer".

I know Bourns lists dual-ganged audio taper in the MOTM flavor (91A2) 
but I've only been able to find them up to 10K ohms (at Newark). I'm 
just a software guy but good practice seems to be to use 25K - 100K ohm 
pots for audio inputs.

I got a couple of the Bourns 10K duals anyway. Can I use them directly 
at the input to an amplifier for line-level stereo signals, or do I 
need to put some kind of buffers in front of them for higher input 
impedance? Or use cheaper pots in a more appropriate value? (These are 
for external inputs to my synth, so the output from any random piece of 
audio equipment might be plugged into them.)

I would think 10K would be okay.
Just be sure you connect the input to one end, the ground to the other
and the output to the center.

The output of whatever you have connected to the pots will see 10K input
impedance.

If you had one device connected to several of these, however, the
impedance might get low enough to cause problems.

The general synth standard of 100K is because the assumption is that
each output will be connected to multiple inputs.
