FS: JLH-831, -822 kits

FS: JLH-831, -822 kits

2006-01-11 by object88

Hello all. It's been forever and a few days, and I feel lame for
posting this randomly. But I'm moving, and I need to trim down the
"collection" for the smaller space. I purchased one each of Larry's
831 and 822 kits way back when, but never got around to constructing
them. I don't believe that I will, unfortunately. So... they're for
sale to someone who will construct and use them like they're meant to be.

Kits include all instructions, resisters, ferite beads, PCBs, and
pre-drilled panels. If I can dig up some brackets that aren't rusted,
I'll include those as well.

I'd like $100 for the pair (plus shipping, unless you happen to live
near Oakland, CA). I'll try to check back on the list, but please
email me directly. If this isn't a fair price, please let me know.

I may have some MOTM modules, Oakley panels, and perhaps a few other
random parts for sale as well in the coming days. Got to see how
things pan out.

Thanks,
Paul B.

Somebody grab these, they are unobtanium!

Wow, I hadn't expected as much of a response as I got. Even if the
first dozen (literally) people flake out, I think they're still sold.

Thanks,
Paul B.

Appologies if this is sent to the list twice; I think I goofed up the
first time. Either that, or Moe's going to get multiple copies... :P

Seeing as how these still seem to be in-demand items, is it possible
for Stooge Enterprises (or someone else) to make them re-obtanium?
I'm particularly interested in the 822.

Stooge Industries will make every attempt to make these reobtainium.
But it will take a few months.
Right now the Stooges are swamped trying to get the website running,
keeping up with bracket orders and trying to prepare for a panel run.

I would anticipate the 822 being sold by us as a complete kit, although
we may require you to cut and strip the wire. :-)

I'm not sure if there is sufficient demand for the 831 to warrant a kit.

Building these modules is pretty straightforward. Lots of wires to
rotary switches. The biggest hassle is that Larry's design (on the 822
anyway) eliminated individually trimmed intervals for selected
resistor sets. And by selected, I mean .01 percent.

Re: [motm] Re: FS: JLH-831, -822 kits SOLD

2006-01-12 by The Old Crow

Seeing as I made the original circuit boards, it wouldn't be much of a
problem to make more. I would want to make a couple of small changes
though, the foremost of which is some voltage references for the upper
and lower bounds of the resistor divider so that the thing is immune to
influences of the external power supply. If someone made nice
right-angle PC mount switches, I could employ those as well and get rid
of a lot of the point-to-point wiring.

I've been thinking about running some off. I finished up the layout
for the board over the Christmas break. I just need to check it over
to make sure I didn't miss anything. These are pretty time consuming
to put together. I just built a couple and spent quite a while
checking resistors to get the right matched values, and then I still
wound up replacing some where the tuning just was not right on.
