Soldering Iron temp, did I screw up.....

Alright so I picked up a WP35 soldering iron (850F) like stated in the motm PDF, built 2x800 ADSR and a 420VCF (havent booted them up yet as I am waiting for power).

About to start the 380 Quad Lfo and I come across 'use 700F tip/temperature', so I go thru the archives and now I am thinking, should I be worried, could I have killed some parts??? Should I look into buying a new soldering iron before contining????

Chris,

The only issue would be if you held heat too long against a component. 
700 degrees is kind of a standard temp for most irons. Higher tip temps 
are no problem if one understands that you should hold the iron in place 
as long as a lower temp tip. It is not uncommon to see 800+ degree irons 
used in production environments, but it takes a bit more skill to use, IMO.

It is probably best for DIY users to have a 700 degree setting.

I'm sorry if it says 850F in the PDF (Don't have it handy, I'm out of the
office), but 700F is correct. Most Wellers only need a $6 new tip
replacement, not the whole iron.

Thanks for the info, the PDF does not say 850F, it just lists the Weller WP35P as an option for a soldering iron, I will look into a new tip before I look into buying a WTCPT..

I'm sorry if it says 850F in the PDF (Don't have it handy, I'm out of the
office), but 700F is correct. Most Wellers only need a $6 new tip
