stereo chorus?

stereo chorus?

2005-06-28 by Mike Estee

y'all,

anyone have any opinions on stereo chorus effects for the motm format or
otherwise? I was looking at an MXR stereo chorus, maybe an older one that
could get chopped up and MOTM-ized.

thoughts?

I recommend the Arion SCH-1.

Cheap, (relatively) quiet, mono-->mono, mono-->stereo, interesting sound that sounds great with synth-type material, and, er cheap.

Was built as a guitar pedal but I ripped mine up years ago and taped it to an old organ.

Its all surface mount however, might be a hassle to re-mount the controls.

The IC's I can see are: (3) TA75558P, (2) MN3207, (1) TC427BAP

In general I find Arion stuff a good buy for inexpensive and sometimes nasty FX.

hello all,
a while back i experimented to try and emulate the classic roland stereo
chorus with a pair of John Blact's time machines - i think i got pretty
close
of course you need a pair of time machines to do this...
cheers

The Rocktron Tsunami is a nice "shimmery" sounding unit as I recall
from playing with one years ago. I just bought one on eBay so I'll
open it up when it comes.

If someone wants to clone a great chorus the Boss CE-300 sounds
fantastic. I've got one in my rack; highly recommended!

Ooh, how about a Roland Dimension-D in a 1U module... Didn't JH build
a clone of one a while back?

Oh, for you Bay Area MOTMers, I will be giving (unless I get bumped) a
talk and live demonstration on doing surface mount DIY work at home at the
next dorkbots-sf talk. (http://dorkbot.org/)

The revolution will be toasted!

I happen to have a pair :D

If I update the symbol set at orbelisk.com/motm will you post a patch
describing the technique?

i'll try - it's not so much a precise recipe, more a list of ingredients
i think i cobbled it together from information of JH's website, and the
service manual for the Roland box (the name of which escapes me)
unfortunately i didn't really take any notice of the recent patch chart
thread, but i can certainly put together a meaningful diagram (i trained in
graphic design, when they used to use pens, and real bits of lead stuffed in
a frame & covered in ink)
cheers
