PDF manuals on CD ROM

PDF manuals on CD ROM

2005-04-07 by Paul Schreiber

I have started to ship all of the current manuals on CD ROM with
assembled/VCOs/power supplies. Paul H is still running paper, but after the '485
ships we will be 100% CD-ROM.

This brings up a few issues:

a) please resist the urge to post these, email these, etc. I know they will
'magically appear' on websites, let's see how long not

b) I CANNOT keep track of who has them, who does not. So, the *DEFAULT*
assumption is NOT. If you do NOT want one with your order (for now) use the
COMMENT field and say so. I may add a 'check box' to the order form, but then
you will have to 'uncheck it' so I suspect some of you may have a collection of
these. Better not show up on eBay :(

I have mixed feeling about this, but the cost/weight of paper is too much and a
blank CD ROM is what...4 cents or something?

Paul

Realizing that you do not want your designs shared with the outside
world and/or posted to every web site in town...

 1) Did you include the older/discontinued modules on the CD? (I have
the discoutinued VCA/RingMod module.)
 2) If we are on record as having purchased kits in the past, is it
possible to order (and pay for) a CD now so we can dump our paper?
 3) Does the CD include images/pictures of the module front panels
such that we could use them in constructing graphical patch sheets?
 4) Do we have your permission to use any images of the module front
panels on web pages?

Not on this release, but I will on the 'official' one. It will also include all
the pcb artwork (not the Gerbers, just plots) and lots of demos :)

Mail me a $5 bill with your address and I'll send one out. Address is on the
cover of the manuals.

No, but you CAN snatch them off the website and anything on the website is (by
default) public domain.

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
