Actually, I made a typo:

The guide says that one should be 1000pf marked E102, and the other,
0.01 mfd stamped D103.

  I'm not Paul, but here is how these codes work:

  102 = 10 x 10^2  x 10^-12 = 1000 picofarads = 0.001 microfarads

  104 = 10 x 10^4 x 10^-12 = 100,000 picofarads = 0.1 microfarads

  1n0 = 1.0 "nanofarads" = 1 x 10^-9, = 1000 x 10^-12 = 0.001
microfarads

  10n = 10 nanofarads = 10 x 10^-9 = 0.01 microfarads

  100n = 100 nanofarads = 100 x 10^-9 = 0.1 microfarads

  Are you sure the one cap isn't a 100n ?

 In addition, the J means 5% tolerance and the 63 means 63VDC rated.
Crow is right, 1n = .001uf, 10n = 0.01uf, 100n = 0.1uf.

The nf is strictly a European thing.
