I used to lust over Carvin gear basically 'cause of the pricing... I've
never heard an outrageously bad thing about the gear, but in watching what
they've done over the years with amps, guitars, mixers, PA speakers, etc.
I've come to seem them as kinda' "plain-jane, nothing to write home about".

Carvin has a PDF of the manual online in their "discontinued" section:

...it's 157k, no pics or specs.

OT: Carvin mixer question

1999-11-08 by J. Larry Hendry

Anybody ever heard of a Carvin 2488 mixer? A friend of mine just called me
and told me I was getting one free just removed from a radio station. I
have searched and can find no information. So, I will go crazy until I get
to see it...

I got the file. You know, I made it as far as this page when I was
looking. Somehow, I did not see these at the very bottom. Sigh....
Thanks for pointing it out to me. Looks like a lot of good info. I found
a 1644 (similar I expect on e-bay FS with a photo). So I think I now have
an idea of what it looks like. The guy I am getting it from said it takes
two people to move it without overdoing it. I am hoping the condition is
at least restorable.
I'll get your knife switches out this morning I hope.

I think that considering the cost Larry, you'll be quite happy. :)

I used to have an old Carvin catalog around, and actually had a fold out of
a specific mixer posted up in my cube at work for a long time. I *think* it
was the 2488; I'm pretty sure it was.

btw... Carvin likes _brightly_ colored knob tops. :) Not a bad thing in
terms of knowing that you're lookin at the EQ versus the SENDs, but it can
be a bit hard on the eyes after a while.
