Cable order time

Cable order time

2004-10-18 by J. Larry Hendry

OK. It is finally here now that I have all my panels shipped.

I am now accepting orders for official MOTM logo translucent cables:
http://www.wiseguysynth.com/larry/cable/cable.htm
These cables are strictly 1/4" to 1/4"

If you want cables with the high quality 3.5mm plug on one end or both, you
can order my wise guy synth solid color cables
http://www.wiseguysynth.com/larry/cable/cable_alt.htm

Same price and options as before. E-mail with any questions.

Schedule is:
- Order window: About 2 weeks, invoices follow
- Submit cable order to vendors: 1st week of November
- cable delivery to me: Right after Thanksgiving
- delivery: In time for Christmas. :-)

[OT] Electronic Tanpura and Tabla

2004-10-19 by Tentochi

For those of you that may have seen the VC Tabla and VC Tampura that Cyndustries has for sale
(http://www.cyndustries.com/modules_tabla.cfm), fear not! They are each a staggering $750 each!!!

These instruments are staples among many Indian and world music performers. They are just funky
little dedicated sample playback units.

Cyndustries' VC Tabla is just a conversion of the easily obtainable Riyaz Master Pro Electronic
Tabla. Buckingham Music is having a Christmas sale for $275 right now. Pakrashi & Co. is selling
them for $190. Quite a mark up for a conversion. Here are 2 links with an MP3 sample:

     http://www.buckinghammusic.com/elect/masterpro.html
     http://www.pakrashi-harmonium.com/electronic-musical-instruments.html

Better pic of the FP Taal chart: http://www.indianmusicalinstruments.com/taalchart.htm

Cyndustries' VC Tanpura is a conversion of the Ragini Pro Electronic Tanpura. Pakrashi & Co. also
sells this for $190 (see the last link above). There is also a more digital version availabe, but
I do not believe that is what they used for the conversion. I may be wrong on this one since they
did not use any of the original panel, and I don't feel like taking the time to research it at the
moment. Can also be written as tanbura.

Another good site to peruse is:

     http://www.jas-musicals.com/sectrad/Electronics-Instruments.asp

One company also continually posts these on ebay.

I suggest not messing with a conversion; just pick up one of the original (cheap) units and have
fun!

Sorry for the waste of bandwidth. I don't want any flame wars here, so I am not going to respond
to Cynthia's attack on me other than the following.

I stand behind what I said and where I posted the info. I see no crime in distributing
information that is already publicly and readily available.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to email me privately.

Best Wishes!!!
