How do I use the "Bias" switch? MOTM-830

How do I use the "Bias" switch? MOTM-830

2004-08-18 by earthtodylan2000

Hi,
I've just built my first batch of MOTM modules. They were fun to
build and worked right off the bat. I am confused about the
function of the Bias switch on the MOTM-830 dual mode mixer.
What does it mean that it sends DC voltage? How do I use that?
What is it good for?

Thanks. I'm still green as far modular synths go!

It adds a fied voltage to the output. So, if the inputs are all of (zero),
then you can view it as "sending" out a fixed DC voltage.

Put the switch in the ON position :)

Some modules want 0 to +5V inputs (like resonance CVs on the filters).
What if you want to use the output of a LFO, that is -5V to +5 V?

Ponder and the answer will come.

I find I use mine a reasonable amount. I can run it into a
comparator
and use it to set the threshold. I can offset my ribbon controller
for doing modulations. I have used it as a source of +5V to switch
with a MOTM-700 for creating gates. I've used it into a mixer to
create some 10 volts waveforms for older equipment. I also use it a
lot to debug new modules.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
