can anyone tell me if this is normal

can anyone tell me if this is normal

http://www.orange-records.com/test.wav (500k)

this is a MOTM, oscillator into filter into vca, with the vca CV controlled
by an envelope.

hear the clicking?

Is this normal?

Attack is not set to 0 (ie there is a bit of attack), if i turn the attack
up, it still clicks even when i have an obvious ramping attack. if i turn
the filter cutoff down, it still happens. I have other samples with varyoing
levels of attack/filter, all the same.

It's not the VCF, it's not the sequencer, and it's not the envelope (tried
all different ones), and no, it's not my amp/mixer/computer, etc. If I use
a VCA from another synth, it doesn't happen. I'm told the VCA is
"performing within spec", but I can't get it to make a bass note without a
major click. Am I the only one who has this problem? Am I doomed to not
use my MOTM for bass notes?

Thoughts?

Paul

That sounds like the CV rejection trimmer needs adjustment.

yep, it sounds *exactly* like cv leak, but i've adjusted the trimmer (I can make it worse, but not better)
I also sent it to paul ... still the same. This is why I'm asking the list if this is normal, as I was told that nobody else has complained about this, yet my vca is "within spec"....BUT, to my ears, it's not working correctly.
I'm at a loss as to what to think, because obviously it's unusable like this.
So, what I'm getting from you is that this is *not* normal, right?

Well, I've figured it out.
it's a CV bleedthrough problem - plugging the output of the vca into an oscillator, with no audio input into the VCA, with an env into the VCA causes the pitch on the osc to follow the envelope.
Now, the question is: is my module broken, or is this a design problem? I've been told that I'm the only one who has ever complained about this... but at the same time Paul looked @ my VCA & said that it's within spec...
Was Paul wrong (and my unit is broken), is is everyone else deaf? (and they are ALL like that) ;)
/p

Hmmmm. I'm still at work and don't have the 190 manual handy, so I
don't know the cv rejection spec, but there will always be some
bleedthrough. I used to think that the 110 was quite bad in that
regard, and that my 190s have been much much better. I've never had
any popping like you describe unless I use the very fastest attacks
on the 800, and they disappear if I back off a few milliseconds.

I'm just fishing here, but are all the modules on the same power
supply? Also does VCA1 vs VCA2 make a difference? Lin vs Exp modes?
