I am having so much fun reading everyone elses entries that I would feel
guilty if I didn't do this.

Name: Ben Vehorn

Age: 29

Occupation: Title changes, but job stays the same--mostly UNIX stuff.

Location: Delaware, USA

MOTM stuff: at least one of each. Gets more use than my big Moog.

Other synth stuff: Too much. My main weaknesses are modulars (duh),
polysynths (I particularly like the Korg PS stuff) and EMS stuff. I am
still convinced that there are little elves running around inside the
VCS3 performing magical spells.

Musical likes-- I like just about any type of music but dislike 99.99%
of the bands/performers doing it. All time favs include Joy Division/New
Order, Throbbing Gristle, Big Star, Nick Drake, Kraftwerk, Eno, Neil
Diamond, Tangerine Dream (pre mid-80s), Wipers, Rites of Spring, etc.
Current faves are Magnetic Fields, Aphex Twin, Boards of Canada, FSOL,
Void, Perez Prado, Neu, Cluster, Xavier Cugat, and Miles Davis "Agharta"
(blows doors on "Pangaea", IMO).

Other things I like: Horror movies, particularly European stuff
(Rollins, Argento, Bava, Fulci), Jodorowsky's "Holy Mountain", Comics
(Jeff Smith, Vaughn Bode, Alan Moore, Neil Gaiman) and time off from
work to play...

Name: John Wieczorek

Age: 35

Occupation: Short-attention-span jack-of-all-trades.
I'm primarily a percussionist. electro/acoustic drumset, north/south indian,
& middle-eastern hand drums

Location: Salt Point,NY - soon to be Somerset, NJ - 1/1/00.

MOTM stuff: 100 x 2, 120 x 2, 700 x 2, 800 x 2, 410, 420

Other synth stuff: Virus, Wavestation SR, Ensoniq MR Rack & ASR10
Prophecy . Some PAIA & Blacet modules. In the past I've owned 2600,
Mellotron, P5, OBXa, MS20, Mini moog etc... yes - I have a gear problem.

Musical likes - I started out as a metal head (sabbath!) but eventually
heard late-60's Miles.
which led me to all sorts of things in the improvised realm ala ECM & NYC
"downtown scene".
I draw inspiration from "world music" - African, Indian, Asian.
The synth thing started after I ate a bag of mushrooms & listen to Kitaro
for 5 hours!
Mysteriously, I was buying my first synth (2600) the next day...
I'm familiar with & enjoy a lot of the ambient/industrial/electro music
but I try not to listen to too much, as I start to imitate.

Other things I like: Tinkering with wood & homemade instruments,
Growing & cooking my own food. avoiding income tax (legally of course ;-)

It's incredible how many of us are working in software!

Here's another one...

Name: Doe, John Doe

Age: 38

Occupation: Geek. Windows NT network stuff in C and assembly. If _they_
(MS) say you can't do it then you haven't looked hard enough.
Linux is my hero though.

MOTM Stuff: Paul and many others have tried, but I just don't have the
time to build. So, I hang out here and cause trouble.

Other Gear: http://www.midiwall.com/wall

Influences: Frustration with having been lazy enough 20 years ago to
let my left hand basically become useless. Previous to that,
and 'wishful thinking' now, (old) Genesis, ELP, Metallica,
Pink Floyd, TD, Stabbing Westward, most anything with walls
of compressed loud guitar chunking and driving 32nd notes.
